How to Manifest Your Full Potential

Every week as SmallBizLady, I conduct interviews with experts on my Twitter talk show #SmallBizChat. The show takes place every Wednesday on Twitter from 8-9 pm ET.  This is excerpted from my recent interview with Marshawn Evans.  She is known as a Reinvention Strategist, Influence Expert and Best-Selling Author known as The Godfidence® Coach. For more info: www.Marshawn.com.

SmallBizLady: YOU’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT MANIFESTATION AND TEACHING THE LINK BTWN BELIEF AND RESULTS. WHAT DOES THE BOOK TITLE—BELIEVE BIGGER—MEAN??

Marshawn Evans: To believe bigger is to believe beyond what you’ve been through. Beyond what you see and what you “think” you know. Obstacles, betrayal and life-altering let downs pave the very pathway to purpose. Rejection is often redirection. Inside of every broken dream is a bigger lesson and higher version of you waiting to emerge.

SmallBizLady: WHAT IS A SPLIT ROCK MOMENT AND HOW DOES IT IMPACT YOUR LIFE, BUSINESS AND CAUSE YOU TO BELIEVE BIGGER?

Marshawn Evans: Many people experience different “split rock moments” that turns their world upside down. Some, it’s sickness, death, financial problems or life happenstance. For me, it was when I found out six days before my dream wedding that my fiancé was cheating on me. You may be wondering what happens after hitting rock bottom spiritually, emotionally and financially.

You will likely discover that disruption is actually the invitation to a sweeter life of purpose, joy and abundance. If we dare to believe bigger.

SmallBizLady: OFTENTIMES THERE’S NO TALK ABOUT HOW OUR PERSONAL LIFE AFFECTS OUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE. HOW DOES THAT IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS?

Marshawn Evans: Whether you’re running an online or home-based business, etc., like I was running a successful professional sports agency. Things will cause you to “give it all up” – even for love, and realize there’s no backup plan or ways to pay my bills.  This is why belief is so important.  When you something devastates you, it takes higher, bigger and bolder belief to elevate into a new place of possibility as opposed to staying stuck in bitterness, shame and pain. Otherwise, it will not only impact your life, but your business too.

SmallBizLady: YOU REFER TO A PRINCIPLE CALLED THE PURPOSE MAP AND HOW IT HELPS TO REINVENT. TELL US THE WHAT AND WHY?

Marshawn Evans: When we look at our lives, we see a mess. However, destiny sees a map! It is clarifying to “visually” see how the journey of life unfolds. The Purpose Map isn’t about steps. We can’t rush it any more than we can rush pregnancy. But, now we can see where we are on the purpose journey, and know we are all called to impact and influence. No one is exempt. Most never make it out of the stage #2 stage. It’s time to change that.

SmallBizLady: MARSHAWN, CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT EACH STAGE OF THE PURPOSE MAP?

Marshawn Evans: Stage #1 is DISCOVERY. This is where we’re taught the do’s and don’ts of life and told who we need to be.  We all adopt a certain set of “life rules” which become limitations.

SmallBizLady: WHAT ABOUT STAGE 2?

Marshawn Evans: Stage #2 is TALENT.  This is where we ask the question: Who did I “decide” to be?  The answer is usually based on the rules we were bathed in during Discovery. We pick a lane, start climbing the 5 success mountains, and master mask-wearing.  Labels and titles become our identity.

SmallBizLady: TELL US ABOUT STAGE 3.

Marshawn Evans:  Stage #3 is The GAP. Disruption or simply dissatisfaction flips our life upside down and we find ourselves in a wilderness. We’re trying to figure out who we really are, what we really want, and what it’ll take to reinvent – to trade success for significance and let go of what no longer belongs.

SmallBizLady:  SO, WE’VE MADE IT THROUGH DISCOVER, TALENT AND THE GAP… WHAT’S NEXT?

Marshawn Evans:  Stage #4 is GIFTS. This is where we really want to be.  In the Talent stage we asked “who did I decide to be.”  However, in the GIFTS stage we ask, “who was I truly born to be?” We uncover untapped potential, life-changing gifts and our ultimate superpower, our voice.

SmallBizLady:  AND, WHAT IS THE FINAL STAGE OF THE PURPOSE MAP AND STEPPING INTO ONE’S LIFE MISSION?

Marshawn Evans:  Stage #5 is INFLUENCE. We step into our life mission and the bigger impact we’re here to have. Adversity is really about finding your voice, a bigger vision of yourself and your place of impact and influencer.  Purpose is more about where than why. The question is where you are you uniquely designed to lead.  This is the key to success and innovation in business.

SmallBizLady:  AFTER EXPERIENCING A SETBACK, HOW DO YOU OVERCOME AND MOVE ON? HOW DO YOU GET OUT OF THE GAP?

Marshawn Evans:  First, it’s key to EMBRACE DISRUPTION.

Whether it’s a lost job, broken heart, or even a health scare, shift from asking why did this happen TO me, to asking how is this happening FOR me.  Second, you must GET A BIGGER VISION. Every life event is actually part of a larger mission that only you can fulfill. You need a vision, dream and motivation that is bigger than your mess.

SmallBizLady:  WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER GETTING A BIGGER VISION?

Marshawn Evans:  Third, UPGRADE YOUR THINKING.

It is time to break up with self-sabotaging behaviors, relationships, clutter and stinking thinking. You’ve gotta identify your inner little me, dump “The Rules” and align with what I call Future ME.  And then, you’ll vibe able to FIND YOUR GIFTS. Unlock your passion. Embrace your voice. Share your story.  Do an inventory of Y-O-U so that you can awaken and step into your true superpowers.

SmallBizLady:  IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE?

Marshawn Evans:  Finally, START BEFORE YOU’RE READY.

This is what makes the difference in having potential and manifesting your full potential. There’s never a perfect time to forgive, reinvent, date again, launch a new business, or to create the life you crave. Now is the only moment your future needs.  We all have a story. Every story matters.  The reason we face trials is so that we can use our life experiences to help someone else.  Your story can change someone else’s.
