How to Fix Your Business? Part 3

Does running your business make you feel like you don’t have a life? If so, you can change things. My new book, Fix Your Business; 90-day Plan to Get Back Your Life and Reduce Chaos in Your Business. shows you how to set things up so that you can enjoy your business again. In it, you’ll learn the 12 Ps of Running a Successful Business along with how to develop your 90-day plan to go from struggling to thriving in your business. This week, I’ll share the final four chapters of the book on brand building, attracting customers, planning and being tough enough to go the distance. Let me help you fall in love with your business again. Here’s Part III of How to Fix Your Business.

#9 Presence: Building Your Brand Offline and Online. You need to manage your brand online and offline strategically. How are you positioned in the marketplace? Is it time for a brand or website refresh? What is your content strategy? Is it time to do something new with content? What social platforms are you focused on? What about your services, is it time to add more service offerings? Inbound marketing is generated from effective and consistent branding in the marketplace. How can you boost your brand today?

#10 Prospects: Creating a Sales System. You must have a systematic way to attract prospects and convert them into paying customers. You need to develop sales funnels to nurture prospects or have a proposal process to close them if you are a service business. Can you automate any of your sales processes? Do you have or need sales people? Will your sales people have all the tools they need to close business? Figure out your online sales strategy too. How are you driving traffic to your website, or closing sales on the social media platforms? You must evaluate your sales process end-to-end.

#11 Planning: Update Your Strategy. Every small business needs a plan. Once you are armed with answers from all the questions above, it’s time to develop a new strategic plan for your business. My book, Fix Your Business, is a 90-day planning system. You can work on your top three challenges or work on all your trouble areas. Throughout the chapters, you’ll find short fixes to do right away or fixes to set aside for whenever you might need them. Topic-based fixes come at the end of each chapter. These are ideas and actions to take during that week or to schedule for a future time.

#12 Perseverance: Stay Ready For Tomorrow It’s hard to weather the storms that come along in business, but in order to survive, you must be able to take a punch. On some days, it might feel like a complete beat down, but you can never let that defeat you for too long. Develop your personal motivations and recharging activities so that any setbacks are temporary. If you discover that you are going through a long season of setbacks, that should cause you to reevaluate your business model. Determine whether you need to stay the course or move on to your next big idea. Running a small business is not for the weak. Those cake eaters in corporate America need to keep their job. They don’t have what it takes to survive out here in this jungle we call entrepreneurship. But, you do. I believe in you.
