It’s my prayer that you have started this new year full of hope for a wonderful and prosperous 2022. On this annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it is my privilege to once again share with you my thoughts on 10 bible verses for 2022. I hope they will encourage and inspire your faith walk in your business.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
When you accept Christ in your life, you are reborn. Due to the pandemic, some of us have had to reinvent our businesses in the last year. The old no longer worked, and a new business model was required. Hopefully, you are serving your customer where they hang out online with a new and improved value proposition and plan for success in 2022.
Genesis 12:1-3 NIV
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
When we follow God’s purpose for our lives, it allows us to become a blessing to others. But it takes faith to follow God’s plan, especially when it’s not making money. I can remember when God called me to become America’s #1 Small Business Expert. It took nearly two years of blogging, tweeting, and answering people’s business questions before anyone really noticed me and hired me as a speaker. It was a hard time, I had an infant son back then and my marriage was crumbling, but despite it all I was faithful to the vision God gave me. And he kept his promise allowing me now to serve millions. Your faith anchors your soul, and your gifting allows you to serve others.
Ephesians 2:8 NIV
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—”
Faith is an amazing gift. Faith restores your joy. Your faith allows you to make destiny decisions and drive your business forward. But do not ever believe that you alone drove your success. It is all a gift from God.
Psalms 143:10 NIV
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”
In life and business, we should all try daily to be like Jesus. We need to lead, learn, and love like our Lord and Savior.
Job 5:16 NIV
“So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.”
Martin Luther King Jr. said, ”America can’t be a first-class nation if it has second-class citizens.” I believe the right to vote is a fundamental right for all Americans. The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021 (H.R. 4) is proposed legislation that would restore and strengthen parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Particularly, it would restore the Voting Rights Act’s requirement that certain states pre-clear certain changes to their voting laws with the federal government. God never meant for anyone to rule over anyone else. It’s time for Congress to pass this legislation.
Ephesians 6:23 NIV
“Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
There are three things that God gave each of us Faith, Hope, and Love, and the greatest of these is Love. As I think about how this relates to business, it is clear. We are called to love and serve our customers, to love and mentor our employees, and to know that we will be rewarded in heaven for it.
Matthew 10:22 NIV
“You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
It’s not always popular to share your Christian faith, especially in business, but I’m here to declare that God wants us to tell people about him. Recently, a medical helicopter crash-landed in front of a church on the street where I live. Remarkably, all four passengers, including a 2-month-old baby, survived the crash with only minor injuries. Not a single phone or electrical wire was cut. Now, I am clear that God spared those souls, but we should all realize that God allows these things to happen to remind us that our very breath is a blessing he renews each day.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path.“
We are to trust God with all our hearts and not depend on what we know and feel. At all times, include God in everything you do, and this way, you give Him a chance to keep you on the right track. You may not always know what lies ahead, especially in business. Not everything makes sense to us in this life. But God knows the path that we should take. Pray and trust that the Lord will guide you in this season. Sometimes we feel that we must hold up everything in our lives, but God will carry us if we let Him.
Isaiah 46:4 NIV
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
God made us. Accept what comes in faith, knowing God is at work even in the seasons we don’t understand. And if we stop now, we won’t see how beautiful He makes it in the end. He has a story to tell in and through your life, in the everyday things. See his fingerprint.
Proverbs 3:3-4 NIV
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”
Lead with love and kindness. God wants us to keep loyalty and faithfulness in our hearts as a part of our daily practice. For this, God and other people will favor you. Your life will be blessed, your home will be blessed, your family will be blessed and your business will be blessed.
I pray that these words will serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration as you set forth for a new year in business. God’s business is good for our businesses. Keep the faith, and God Bless You.
