6 High-Tech Gadgets for the Connected Business TravelerIf the hardest part of travelling includes leaving all your favorite toys behind, worry no more. The next time travel takes you away from home, try taking these cool tech gadgets along for comfort. They weigh next to nothing. They’re portable, practical and full of functionality. Bring them along once and you’ll never be able to leave them behind again.

International Sim Card  A cell phone is one thing. A global cell phone that lets you connect to anyone from anywhere in the world is something else all together. The next time you’re in the deepest, darkest recesses of the rainforest, calling out won’t be a problem if you remembered to pack the National Geographic sim card. This card comes pre-loaded in one of several styles of cell phone, including the Apple iPhone 4S. This handy-dandy gadget gives you free unlimited incoming calls from over 70 countries and low rates for outgoing calls. Phones that include the National Geographic International sim card start around $79 and go up in price to around $500.

Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard  Laptops are handy to have around, but a virtual keyboard weighs considerably less. In fact, it weighs nothing at all. Well, okay, the projector weighs around 7 ounces, but that’s not bad for a full-function QWERTY keyboard. Set this baby up on the bar, turn it on and type away. The included laser projects a virtual keyboard right onto whatever surface you’re using. The Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard makes it easy to send emails, texts and more from your Smartphone, tablet or laptop. It runs right around $100.

Tablet  Every well-seasoned traveler needs an e-reader, preferably something like a Kindle or a Nook that features multiple functions. Download books, read your favorite magazines, play totally addictive games, access the Internet and more from the comfort of your aisle seat on the plane. If you want something with the same lightweight portability but more functionality, consider investing in a Microsoft Surface or Samsung Galaxy Note. Expect to spend anywhere from $300 to $1000 for a tablet, depending upon what you plan to do with it.

Travel Adapter  Of course, travelling the world with all your favorite, can’t-live-without-them gadgets means nothing if you can’t recharge them. Enter the travel adapter to end all travel adapters — the 150 Country Travel Adapter and Converter. Able to charge two devices in a single plug, this adapter will charge your gadgets in 150 various countries around the globe. It’s adjustable to fit most foreign outlets and features a built-in USB port just in case you forget your cell phone charger at home. This little device costs around $40, worth it? We think so…

Solar Backpack  Why does a backpack need a solar feature, you ask? Why, because in addition to helping you stow and lug all your techy gear, it charges them for you too. Simply drop your cell phones, tablets, iPods, laptops — whatever you have that needs a charge — into the special pocket on the backpack and voila — your items begin charging. The solar backpack is manufactured by Voltaic and costs around $229. It takes around 9 hours to fully charge your devices. That’s just enough time to finish your day-long hike up the side of the volcano and back again. And when you get back to the room, your gadgets will be warm, toasty and fully charged from the sun.

Grid Organization System Most business travelers will know that space is a luxury that you have to pay for. You won’t want to have all of your expensive gadgets rattling around in your suitcase getting damaged, is there a solution? Yes – The Grid-It organisation system. The Grid system will be your gadget’s best friend. This product may not be a gadget, but you need somewhere to keep your favorite gadgets safe and organized. You can pick this product up for around $10 on Amazon, it is definitely worth investing in – it will keep you organized and take the stress out of traveling for business.

What’s more fun than circumnavigating the globe? Circumnavigating the globe with all your favorite gadgets. The journey to your destination is half the fun, so why not spend it happily engaged with the one thing that makes you feel the most warm and fuzzy — tantalizing technology.
