On this Martin Luther King Day, I decided to take a unique approach to compiling this year’s bible verses. Over the summer. I got a message from God at 4:20am several days in a row, and I realized that he wanted me to read the bible and find the relevant verses that will inspire us all to grow our faith in this stressful business time. You’ll notice all the verses come from verse 4:20. Struggling and growing fast can be equally challenging, hard is hard. As believers, we need to know what to do to manage tough times and maintain hope. My favorite cousin has a saying, ”Pray like it’s all up to God and work like it’s all up to you.” Here are the 10 Bible verses to help business owners grow your faith in 2025.
1. Philippians 4:20 NIV
“To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
This verse describes how Christians can overcome worry regardless of their circumstances. By making a purposeful decision to be grateful and content, and praise God through any situation, you open your heart to a blessing. As believers, we must trust God to provide for all our needs. We are not to be consumed with materialism or anxiety. What’s in your bank account, has nothing to do with the outcome. He is a waymaker.
2. Galatians 4:20 NIV
“I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.”
This means we should never give up on ourselves or other people. If a brother or sister is in sin, do not give up on them. As we are all sinners saved by grace. If you make a big, costly mistake, you can give up on yourself either. Forgive yourself. Keep all situations in prayer and stay encouraged. If your child has turned away from God, never give up on them. If you love someone, and they left you, keep praying for them. You must keep believing that all things work together for your good.
3. Proverbs 4:20 NIV
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.”
The better a person listens and learns, the greater leader he or she will be. God wants us to learn to hear his voice. You can certainly hear his voice in a worship service, but it’s best to spend time daily with God. Read the Bible and pray to start or end your day. You can also look for patterns in your life that might indicate God’s guidance. Often, I get calls from folks that I know God sent to speak to me. Just pay attention, God’s voice is all around you.
4. Matthew 4:20 NIV
“At once they left their nets and followed him.”
The act of leaving their nets symbolizes a break from your previous life to follow Jesus and walk in a Christian way. All of us have a divine calling or purpose. Mine is helping and growing successful business owners. Do you know what yours is? Have you prayed and asked God to show you. In 2007, I felt completely lost, and they I started praying and asking God what I should do. Within months, he showed me in a dream three times that I was to serve small businesses and become America’s #1 Small Business Expert.
5. 1 John 4:20 NIV
“If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.”
Those who hate are not abiding in Christ. The Bible teaches that forgiveness is a powerful act of love and obedience that is essential for a Christian life. But we must first forgive ourselves. The relationship we have with ourselves is key to relationship we can build with others. We must forgive so that we may be forgiven, but ultimately forgiveness is really for you. When you don’t forgive people, it’s like drinking poison hoping it kills someone else. Forgiveness is how we live in love to overcome anger, bitterness, and revenge and receive healing and peace. Forgiveness brings us closer to God.
6. 1 Corinthians 4:20 NIV
“For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.”
God doesn’t want us to talk about him, he wants us to live his example. We should always be demonstrating God’s love, compassion, forgiveness, and service towards others. Of course, none of us are perfect. But we are to continually strive to be so. It is a learning process. We must internalize these behaviors to be genuine in it.
7. Mark 4:20 NIV
“Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
Jesus wants us to be productive in our service to his kingdom. In fact, he is working in our lives to bring about a great harvest. Like a small seed growing into a majestic plant or tree, the power of the Kingdom is multiplied through the lives of those fully committed to Jesus! Our businesses grow in that same way. God gives us a seed of an idea, and he waits to see how we work at it to make it grow into something that can serve the multitudes. The worst thing we can do is shrug off an idea God planted in our spirit. When he does that, he also sends everything you need to accomplish it.
8. Acts 4:20 NIV
“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Jesus is known by many names, Lord, Savior, Redeemer, Healer, Waymaker, Promise Keeper, and Light of the world among others. God wants us to speak about the blessings and miracles that he has done in our lives as evidence of the role of faith. If God has blessed you, it’s important to share your testimony with others. There are many unbelievers among us, so it’s critical to share the good news so that they make see the light.
9. 2 Corinthians 4:20 NIV
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.“
There will always be stresses and trouble in life, especially if you run a business, but God sees us through all troubles. The kingdom of God is about the power of God, not human words or philosophy. The power of God available only through faith in Christ and the Holy Spirit. Prayer is how we activate the Holy Spirit within us. If you are at an impasse in your business pray about it, fast and pray on it, and if it doesn’t work out simply know that he’s got something even better for you, he was protecting you, or he wants your attention.
10. Ecclesiastes 4:20 NIV
“Watch for the opportune time, and beware of evil, and do not be ashamed to be yourself.”
As believers, we must always to act wisely, avoid wrongdoing, and embrace our God-given identity. As believers, we should actively strive to live a life that reflects our new identity in Christ, leaving behind our former corrupt ways and embracing a life of righteousness and holiness; this transformation happens through renewal of our minds and the work of the Holy Spirit within us.
I hope that these words will inspire you to never forget that God loves you. His love never changes, and his blessing are new each day. He wants the best for you, even on the hard days. It’s all meant for your good. Keep your eyes focused on him and you will always maintain a perfect peace.
